Licensing Alternatives for AutoForm Software Products
In order to satisfy the different needs of AutoForm clients, AutoForm Engineering
offers two alternatives for software licensing. The pricing of the two licensing types
is in accordance with the client’s benefit.
Node-locked License
A node-locked license is a single-user license. It is valid for one specific
computer with indicated Host ID. Operating this computer as a terminal server,
transferring the license to another computer, as well as copying and operating
the computer as a virtual machine are explicitly prohibited. A separate license
is required for each AutoForm product. The licenses are stored in a special
license file and must be saved in the installation directory. The AutoForm
license validity period is limited by contract and by technical measures.
Floating License
A floating license allows several users the right to use the AutoForm software.
The software is installed on as many interconnected workstations as desired and
can be used within a defined geographical area. A contractually agreed upon defined
number of licenses is activated for each AutoForm product. The licenses are located
on a central license server, which is linked to the network. They are retrieved from
the server as needed. This is only possible as long as there are licenses available.
If all of the licenses have been retrieved by other users, the user must wait until
a license becomes available. A license is retrieved when starting up the user interface
or solver whereas a license is released when exiting the user interface, or when the
solver has completed the calculation. The AutoForm license validity period is limited
by contract and by technical measures.
